Humour adaptatif, estime de soi, impuissance acquise et position managériale : étude d’un modèle de médiation modérée

Abstract

Cet article explore les effets de l'utilisation de l'humour adaptatif, à savoir la propension à utiliser l'humour comme stratégie positive permettant d'améliorer la santé mentale, plus spécifiquement de réduire l'impuissance acquise face à leur travail (sentiment d'échec dans le travail, dévalorisation, absence d'initiative, etc.). Sur la base d'un échantillon de plus de 500 salariés, les résultats mettent en évidence un effet favorable, médié par l'estime de soi. Cette médiation est modérée par le poste occupé : l'effet de l'humour sur l'estime de soi est quasi nul pour les managers alors qu'il est très significatif pour les non-managers. Au-delà de l'effet favorable de l'humour sur la santé mentale des salariés, les résultats suggèrent l'importance, d'un point de vue managérial, à accorder aux éléments qui contribuent à l'estime de soi des salariés.
