Or ces différences sont encore repérables des années après l'entrée dans la vie active. Ainsi, en 1997, la cohorte arrivée au début des années quatre-vingt sur le marché du travail comptait moins de cadres supérieurs que celle arrivée à la fin de la décennie. Apparemment, le début de carrière, avec ses facilités et ses dif ficultés, a une influence sur la trajectoire professionnelle, indépendamment du capital scolaire et du capital social. So even if there is still an up-grading — an increase of the proportion of white collars and decrease of the proportion of blue collars — some periods are more propitious than others for entering the labour market. For instance the cohort that completed its education in the beginning of the today counts proportion of white collars lower than the one of the cohort that entered the labour market at the end of the 80's. In fact this inequality is the result of a gap in the opportunities offered to each cohort during the first years of their career. It shows that the beginning of career is crucial in France.
