Der Erklärungsgehalt der regionalen ifo-Indikatoren am Beispiel der Industrie- und Bauumsätze

Abstract

Der ifo Geschäftsklimaindex für die gewerbliche Wirtschaft Deutschlands gilt als wichtigster und meist-beachteter Frühindikator zur Beurteilung der aktuellen Konjunkturlage in Deutschland. Wenig bekannt ist, dass die ifo-Indikatoren auch für Ostdeutschland und Sachsen zur Verfügung stehen. Aufgrund der schlechteren Datenverfügbarkeit auf der subnationalen Ebene kommt den regionalen ifo-Indikatoren eine noch stärkere Bedeutung als Konjunkturindikatoren zu. Der vorliegende Artikel untersucht, ob die regional vom ifo Institut erhobenen Befragungsergebnisse einen Erklärungsgehalt für die branchen-spezifische Umsatzentwicklung aufweisen. Im Ergebnis wird deutlich, dass die ifo-Indikatoren ihre Aufgabe als Frühindikatoren auch im Verarbeitenden Gewerbe sowie im Bauhauptgewerbe in Ost-deutschland (mit Berlin) und Sachsen zuverlässig erfüllen.
