Ursachen der regionalen Umverteilung von Humankapital in Deutschland

Abstract

Die Auswirkungen von Migrationsströmen auf die Wachstumschancen von Zu- und Abwanderungsregionen hängen stark vom Qualifikationsniveau der Migranten ab. Nach der endogenen Wachstumstheorie verbessert eine Nettozuwanderung von Hochqualifizierten die Innovationskraft der Region und führt somit zu einem langfristig verbesserten Wachstumspfad. Demgegenüber müssen Regionen mit einem Nettoverlust an Hochqualifizierten mit einer Verringerung ihres Wachstumspotenzials rechnen. Die mögliche Folge ist regionale Divergenz. Der folgende Artikel untersucht daher, warum Hochqualifizierte in Deutschland bestimmte Regionen bevorzugen.
