Construction des stratégies et des performances dans les circuits courts alimentaires : entre encastrement relationnel et gestionnaire

Abstract

À la fois inscrits dans l’histoire de l’agriculture et renouvelés par de nouveaux modes de vente, les circuits courts alimentaires sont restés peu étudiés en France jusque dans la période récente. Initiée en 2009 dans le cadre d’une expertise pour l’État, la recherche présentée ici vise à montrer en quoi ces circuits, dans leur diversité, révèlent les mécanismes de construction d’alternatives au modèle de marché dominant. En associant sociologie économique et sciences de gestion sur le cas des exploitations maraîchères, nous identifions trois modèles stratégiques pour les circuits courts, visant chacun des objectifs de performance spécifiques au regard des trois piliers du développement durable. Nous montrons le rôle joué à la fois par les relations sociales et les outils de gestion dans la construction de ces modèles. Ces résultats contribuent à l’analyse du lien complexe entre performance et encastrement des pratiques. Ils ont l’originalité de prendre en compte un encastrement de type gestionnaire, qu’une approche interdisciplinaire doit aider à approfondir. Ils amènent à discuter l’usage des typologies dans la recherche pour l’action et les enjeux liés à la possibilité d’un désencastrement.
