Fehlzeiten: Eine theoretische und empirische Untersuchung mit Individualdaten

Abstract

"Der Beitrag verfolgt das Ziel, Fehlzeiten in einen arbeitsökonomischen Kontext einzuordnen und ihre Determinanten zu bestimmen. Es zeigt sich, daß das Arbeitsangebotsmodell, die Humankapitaltheorie, die Theorie kompensierender Lohndifferentiale, auf unvollkommenen Informationen basierende Ansätze und die Effizienzlohntheorie dazu beitragen, Fehlzeiten zu erklären. Aus dieser Perspektive sind Fehlzeiten, sofern sie nicht durch Krankheit verursacht sind, ein Mittel, um das gewünschte optimale Arbeitsangebot zu verwirklichen bzw. eine Reaktion auf negativ wirkende Anreizstrukturen. Die empirische Üerprüfung erfolgt anhand von Personaldaten eines großen bundesdeutschen Unternehmens. Die Ergebnisse weisen darauf hin, daß die relativ hohen Fehlzeiten von Frauen und ausländischen Arbeitskräften zum Teil auf die Ausstattung ihrer Arbeitsplätze zurückzuführen sind. Die in der Arbeitsökonomie hervorgehobene Rolle des Lohnsatzes als Bestimmungsfaktor von Fehlzeiten wird bestätigt. Wesentliche Einflüsse auf das Auftreten und die Länge von Fehlzeitperioden übt die Ausgestaltung der Arbeitszeit aus: Einsatz in Teilzeit- oder Halbtagsarbeit geht mit beträchtlich geringeren Fehlzeiten als eine Vollzeit-Beschäftigung einher."
