Localización en la economía servindustrial: el caso español de subcontratación electrónica

Abstract

Mientras que muchos de los servicios externalizados por las empresas industriales continúan siendo servicios a empresas de carácter tradicional no directamente implicados en el proceso de fabricación en sí mismo (contabilidad, servicios legales, personales, financieros, etc.), un área importante de crecimiento recae en los servicios a la industria con un alto contenido en valor añadido (VAI), aquellos más claramente imbricados con la fabricación, tales como ingeniería, gestión, logística, servicios post-venta y servicios técnicos. Sin embargo, gran parte de estos servicios VAI externalizados está empíricamente oculto dentro de los esquemas convencionales de clasificación de la industria, ya que, a menudo, son provistos a través de subcontratistas que, muchas veces, no están clasificados como empresas de servicios. Por su parte, el grado de integración a nivel de empresa que representa la provisión de los servicios VAI dentro de las regiones puede ser un importante indicador de flexibilidad productiva regional y de capacidad de innovación. Al reconocer este canal alternativo de “servindustrialización”, lo que ofrece este paper es un primer paso para medir las diferencias regionales en la integración hacia los procesos de producción iniciales, en paralelo o hacia los finales de los servicios de valor añadido a través de la subcontratación, estudiando el caso de la industria electrónica de subcontratación en España. Se observa un fuerte grado de integración entre servicios y fabricación en las empresas electrónicas de subcontratación española, particularmente entre fabricación y servicios avanzados. Sin embargo, se observan diferencias significativas regionales en los niveles y los tipos de integración.
