Abstract

"Dieses IAB-Regional beschäftigt sich mit der Entwicklung der Zahl erwerbstätiger ALG II-Bezieher (den sogenannten Aufstockern) in Hessen und den hessischen Kreisen. Bemerkenswert an der Entwicklung der Aufstocker in Hessen sind vor allem zwei Dinge: Zum einen ist die Zahl der (erwerbsfähigen) Leistungsberechtigten rückläufig, während die Zahl der Aufstocker (als Teilgruppe der erwerbsfähigen Leistungsberechtigten) für Hessen insgesamt ansteigt. Zum anderen divergieren die Trends zwischen dem Rhein-Main-Gebiet (mit starkem Wachstum der Aufstocker) und dem Rest von Hessen. Der Rückgang der erwerbsfähigen Leistungsberechtigten ist nicht nur begrenzt vom Arbeitsmarkt abhängig, sondern scheint vergleichsweise stark durch die Entwicklung der Zahl nicht-erwerbsfähiger Haushaltsmitglieder beeinflusst. Die regionalen Unterschiede scheinen dagegen primär auf gegensätzliche Entwicklungen im Arbeitsangebot bei gleichzeitig steigender Arbeitsnachfrage durch die Betriebe sowohl in Süd- wie auch in Nordhessen zurückzuführen sein."
