Abstract

The contrast between the importance of the notions of Analytics and Big Data in HR in current managerial discourse and the low number of academic studies on the subject raises questions about the reality of the change introduced by these notions. Mobilizing the concept of justification to analyze participant observation supplemented by ten semi-directive interviews, this research shows that HR Analytics systems give rise to speeches similar to those on reporting, whereas Big Data systems correspond to new justifications. This suggests that HR Analytics does not constitute a disruption per se, whereas Big Data corresponds to a real change in HR.
