Abstract

La sous-traitance est un phénomène répandu dans le transport routier, notamment dans la messagerie dédiée à la collecte et la distribution d'envois de moins de 3 t. Les tournées de livraison et de ramassage des marchandises en milieu urbain présentent quelques spécificités (difficultés de circulation et stationnement) qui y renforcent l'usage de la sous-traitance. Celle-ci permet notamment aux messagers de minimiser les coûts liés aux maillons urbains et de répondre plus favorablement aux appels d'offre des chargeurs. Une exploitation spécifique de l'enquête « transporteurs » menée en Ile- de-France associée aux résultats d'une enquête plus ancienne en Rhône-Alpes ainsi qu'aux entretiens avec des responsables d'entreprises de transport nous permettent de confronter les logiques des donneurs d'ordre et des sous-traitants afin de décrire aussi bien sur le plan qualitatif et quantitatif le type de rapport qu'elles entretiennent.
