Disparidad espacial en la accesibilidad a los servicios de salud hospitalarios en Cali, Colombia

Abstract

Este artículo explora las disparidades espaciales en el acceso a los servicios de salud hospitalarios en Cali (Colombia). Esclarece la distribución de la accesibilidad entre diferentes grupos sociales y barrios por medio de una métrica de accesibilidad potencial y curvas espaciales de Lorenz con el propósito de aproximar una medida del potencial de acceso a las oportunidades acumuladas. Los hallazgos revelan y cuantifican las brechas existentes en el acceso y distribución de las oportunidades entre los grupos sociales que configuran la estructura social urbana, particularmente el caso de la población afrodescendiente frente al resto de la ciudad. El patrón espacial analizado para una ciudad de elevada segregación residencial por color de piel y pobreza como Cali, aporta evidencia a la situación de muchas ciudades de América Latina en las que prevalecen la exclusión social y la denegación del acceso al disfrute de los servicios de un bien meritorio como la salud. El artículo se inscribe y aporta evidencia alrededor de la idea de justicia espacial para la cual el valor social y moral de los beneficios incrementales en el acceso a los servicios de salud hospitalaria, que favorece a los grupos en desventajas sociales acumuladas, resultan deseables y llevan a un arreglo social más justo.
