Impacto del programa Ser Pilo Paga en la motivación para obtener mejores puntajes en las pruebas Saber 11 en Colombia

Abstract

Esta investigación estudia el efecto motivacional generado por el programa Ser Pilo Paga, que concedía créditos condonables a estudiantes de educación media y con bajos recursos económicos, para realizar estudios superiores en universidades colombianas acreditadas. Analiza si el hecho de tener al menos un estudiante beneficiario de SPP en un colegio, genera efectos motivacionales en las siguientes cohortes, incentivando a incrementar los resultados en las pruebas de estado. Se utilizaron datos desde el 2012 hasta el 2018 y una metodología mixta de PSM y ES, con el propósito de tener grupos comparables y evidenciar tanto el efecto, como la temporalidad de la motivación por "contagio". Los resultados obtenidos evidencian que un estudiante motivado por el hecho de que algún companero haya sido beneficiario del programa SPP promueve una mejor obtención de resultados en las pruebas Saber 11 de entre 0,038 y 0,091 desviaciones estándar. Concluye que los efectos motivacionales son más frecuentes en los hombres; factores como habitar en zonas con alto índice de ruralidad, afectadas por violencia o pobreza, produce una disminución en el efecto de motivación. Por último, que el efecto motivacional por contagio requiere de condiciones mínimas en la calidad de la educación y condiciones socio económicas.
