Besteht ein Zusammenhang zwischen nachhaltigerer Milcherzeugung und wirtschaftlicher Zufriedenheit der Betriebsleiter? Ergebnisse aus Schleswig-Holstein

Abstract

Milcherzeuger in Deutschland, die in Zukunft weiterhin wettbewerbsfähig Milch produzieren wollen, müssen Nachhaltigkeitsanforderungen dauerhaft und umfassend implementieren und dokumentieren. Das Thema Nachhaltigkeit wird in der Praxis jedoch kontrovers diskutiert und ist unter den Betriebsleitern häufig negativ konnotiert, weil eine nachhaltige Wirtschaftsweise häufig in Verbindung mit erhöhten Kosten gebracht wird. Vor diesem Hintergrund wird der Zusammenhang zwischen Nachhaltigkeit und ökonomischem Erfolg auf Ebene von Milchviehbetrieben untersucht. Hierfür werden Daten der „Status-quo-Analyse ausgewählter Nachhaltigkeitsaspekte in der Milcherzeugung in Schleswig-Holstein“ für 172 Betriebe ausgewertet. Einzelbetriebliche Nachhaltigkeit wird dabei aus mehreren abgefragten Aspekten zu einem Index aggregiert. Neben Nachhaltigkeitsindikatoren aus den Bereichen Ökologie, Tierwohl, Soziales und Ökonomie enthält der Datensatz Aussagen der Landwirte zur Zufriedenheit mit der wirtschaftlichen Situation ihres Betriebes als ökonomischem Erfolgsindikator. Aufgrund der Endogenitätsproblematik wird das Analysemodell anhand eines Instrumentenvariablenansatzes geschätzt. Die Ergebnisse weisen einen signifikant positiven Einfluss der wirtschaftlichen Zufriedenheit auf die Höhe des Nachhaltigkeitsindexes auf. Ein höherer Nachhaltigkeitsindex wird somit tendenziell von wirtschaftlich zufriedeneren Betrieben erzielt. Weitere Einflussgrößen deuten auf den positiven Einfluss von Fortbildungsangeboten durch staatliche Stellen und Molkereien hin.
