An Empirical Critique of the Association of Organizational Justice and Lecturers’ Quality of Work-Life in Nigeria

Abstract

This study empirically critiqued the association of organizational justice and lecturers’ quality of work life in Nigeria. Questionnaire was administered to 252 Lecturers sampled from Universities in Port Harcourt. The Spearman Rank Order Correlation Coefficient was used for analysis which showed significant and positive association of organizational justice and lecturers’ quality of work life. The study concluded that justice is an essential ingredient of any successful group engagement and recommended among others, that: (1) University authorities should practice fairness to all in the applications of rules, distribution of rewards and punishments (2) University authorities should make the standard for promotion clear and measurable; maintain consistency over time without looking at names and adjusting goal posts depending on who is involved; and (3) Authorities should monitor group activities and clicklization because such constitutes easy platform for enactment of injustice; especially to the detriment of those outside the click of the resource allocators.
