Abstract

La capacidad de absorcion puede ser definida como aquella capacidad dinamica que permite a las empresas reconocer el valor del nuevo conocimiento externo, asimilarlo y aplicarlo con fines comerciales. Constituye un constructo multidimensional, cuyas dimensiones, de manera general, se suelen identificar con la adquisicion, asimilacion y aplicacion de conocimiento. Sin embargo, existen multitud de ambiguedades conceptuales que dificultan la descripcion del propio proceso de absorcion del conocimiento y las dimensiones que lo conforman. Por este motivo, el presente trabajo realiza una revision de las principales contribuciones acerca de este constructo, asi como de sus diferentes antecedentes y consecuencias. En base a la misma, se desarrollan algunas ideas teoricas y se propone una nueva configuracion para el proceso de absorcion. Este nuevo modelo pone un especial enfasis en la importancia que adquieren la identificacion y comprension del nuevo conocimiento como fase previa a su adquisicion y del papel que esta tiene dentro de dicho proceso de absorcion.
