Karátos likviditásmenedzserek. Az arany ékszerek szerepe a háztartások likviditáskezelésében

Abstract

A legtöbb gazdaságban találhatók olyan társadalmi rétegek, amelyek számára nagy szerepük van az arany ékszereknek. Az ékszerek a viselésen - a tradíciókon és az esztétikai értéken - túl gyakran töltik be a megtakarítási eszköz szerepét is, mert az ezt preferáló háztartások értékállóbbnak vélik más megtakarítási formáknál (például a bankbetétnél, a készpénznél, az államkötvénynél). A statikus, értékőrző funkción túl sok háztartás számára ezek az eszközök likviditási pufferként is szolgálnak, különösen azok esetében, akik más úton nehezen jutnak átmeneti forráshoz. Tanulmányunk célja, hogy leírja e likviditási pufferek kezelését, és egységes elméleti keretben bemutassa az arany ékszerek mint likviditáskezelési eszközök informális piacát. Fő kérdésünk, hogy amennyiben az ékszer elméleti értéke ismert, hogyan befolyásolja a likviditáskezelési motívum a kereskedés forgalmát és árát. Mindehhez egy olyan modellt készítünk, amelyben a háztartások egymással és közvetítőkkel lépnek kapcsolatba, és megvizsgáljuk, hogy mit jelent az árak és a forgalom alakulásában az, hogy egyes háztartások likviditáskényszerben vannak. Ha az informális piacon a közvetítők jelenléte növekszik, a modell predikciója szerint az arany ékszerekben megtakarító háztartások készpénzkészletei csökkenni fognak.* Journal of Economic Literature (JEL) kód: G51, D14, Z13, D47.
