Ökonometrische Untersuchungen zum Arbeitsangebot von Frauen

Abstract

"In dem Beitrag werden anhand von zwei Datensätzen aus dem Jahre 1970 und 1978 verschiedene Arbeitsangebotsfunktionen von Frauen für die Bundesrepublik Deutschland geschätzt. Es zeigt sich, daß für die Gruppe der 50jährigen Frauen der Familienstand zum wesentlichen Faktor für die Entscheidungen wird, ob überhaupt Arbeit angeboten wird und wenn ja, ob dies Teilzeit- oder Vollzeitarbeit ist. Demgegenüber treten das Einkommen und die Anzahl der Kinder, die üblicherweise als wichtigste Determinanten herausgestellt werden, etwas zurück. ... Für die Erwerbsentscheidung der zweiten Untersuchungsgruppe - 16-44jährige Mütter - spielen die Zahl der Haushaltmitglieder und das eigene Einkommen im Vergleich zur zur ersten Untersuchungsgruppe eine größere Rolle. Das Partnereinkommen wirkt zwar im Sinne der ökonomischen Theorie arbeitsangebotsdämpfend, dieser Einfluß ist aber im allgemeinen statistisch nicht signifikant. Als wesentlich wichtiger erweist sich das Alter der Mutter: je höher es ist, desto geringer ist das Arbeitsangebot. Die beiden Merkmale Schulabschluß und individuelle Partizipationsrate (d.h. Wahrscheinlichkeit, erwerbstätig zu sein) wirken sich in den beiden untersuchten Stichproben von 1970 und 1978 als Bestimmungsgründe für die Entscheidung, Arbeit anzubieten, in grundsätzlicher Weise aus: Während bei der Stichprobe der 50jährigen Frauen mit steigendem Schulabschluß die Erwerbstätigkeit zunahm, zeigte sich bei den 16-44jährigen Frauen ein umgekehrter Zusammenhang."
