Can mineral exploration projects create and share value with communities? A case study from Mongolia

Abstract

•Stakeholder engagement during mineral exploration is an important yet understudied.•The case study from Mongolia asks if shared value can be created during exploration.•The case demonstrates the value of early engagement to create shared value.•Shared value ideas are mapped to the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.•Four attributes to anchor corporate stakeholder engagement strategies are identified.
