Gleicher als gedacht? Eine Analyse zur Ermittlung wohnpreisbereinigter Verdienste in Deutschland

Abstract

In Deutschland existieren teils erhebliche Verdienstunterschiede, beispielsweise zwischen Ost und West oder zwischen Stadt und Land. Dabei fällt die reale Verdienstlücke deutlich kleiner aus, wenn berücksichtigt wird, dass einerseits das progressive Steuersystem höhere Einkommen überproportional stark belastet und so zu einer teilweisen Nivellierung führt. Andererseits sind die Wohnpreise gerade dort besonders hoch, wo überdurchschnittliche Bruttoverdienste erzielt werden können. Berücksichtigt man diesen Effekt, reduziert sich die Lücke zwischen den neuen Bundesländern und dem Bundesdurchschnitt um bis zu einem Drittel.
