Schlechter als erwartet, besser als gedacht: Die wirtschaftliche Situation in Ostdeutschland 30 Jahre nach dem Mauerfall

Abstract

Auch 30 Jahre nach dem Mauerfall besteht vielfach Unzufriedenheit über den Stand des „Aufbau Ost“. Tatsächlich ist die Situation in vielen Bereichen weitaus besser als es dem allgemeinen Stimmungsbild entspricht: Die realen verfügbaren Einkommen liegen bei 92% des westdeutschen Niveaus, und auch die Arbeitsplatzmarktsituation ist nur noch wenig schlechter als dort. Auch mit ihrer persönlichen wirtschaflichen Lage sind die meisten Ostdeutschen zufrieden – fühlen sich aber gleichzeitig gegenüber ihren Landsleuten im Westen benachteiligt. Der Beitrag sucht nach Ursachen hierfür und zieht Schlussfolgerungen zur künfigen Wirtschafspolitik in und für die ostdeutschen Länder.
