The influential factors of internship-related learning outcomes: Case study in Ho Chi Minh city University of Industry and Trade, Vietnam

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to clarify the factors influencing Internship-related Learning Outcomes of students at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (HUIT), through a survey of 762 final-year students. The data was processed using SMART PLS 4.0 software with the PLS-SEM model, including steps such as assessing Cronbach’s Alpha reliability, composite reliability, convergence, and discriminant validity, evaluating the linear structural model (SEM), etc. The results of the study indicate that there are 07 factors influencing Internship-related Learning Outcomes of HUIT students, including: Organizational Training; Professional Development Opportunities; Internship Program; Remuneration Structure; Soft Skills; Motivations; and University’s interaction with employing company and Student. Additionally, the positive impact of Internship-related Learning Outcomes on Internship Experiences is also demonstrated in this research. Based on the research findings, the authors present conclusions and managerial implications to help Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, as well as universities in Vietnam as a whole, enhance the quality of training and the results of future business-oriented semesters.
