Abstract

"Discrepancies between preferred and actual working hours are a common phenomenon in Germany. Realizing shorter working hours can help reconciling work and family life, but also an increase of hours has positive implications by strengthening the employment potential in aging societies. We analyze how these discrepancies evolve and get solved under special consideration of the household context and occupational characteristics." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
