Die räumliche Flexibilität von Studierenden - Gründe für das Wanderungsverhalten von Studienanfänger/-innen zwischen den Bundesländern

Abstract

Der Zugang zu Bildung ist eine wichtige Dimension bzw. Ressource, um erfolgreich am Arbeitsmarkt partizipieren und Teilhabe realisieren zu können. Insbesondere die Hochschulbildung gewinnt zunehmend an Bedeutung. Für die ausreichende Bereitstellung von Studienplätzen für Studienanfänger/-innen ist die Kenntnis über das Wanderungsverhalten von Studienberechtigten wichtig. Unter Anwendung einer Cluster- und Varianzanalyse können die Bundesländer aufgrund ihrer Wanderungsstrukturen in vier Gruppen eigenteilt werden, die klare Muster aufweisen und sich in den Eigenschaften Größe, Arbeitslosigkeit, Studienangebot, Hochschulqualität sowie Lebensumfeld unterscheiden. Abhängig von diesen Ergebnissen lassen sich Gründe für das Wanderungsverhalten ableiten, die ökonometrisch in einem Gravitationsmodell plausibilisiert und zu einem methodischen Ansatz zusammengefasst werden können. Die gefundenen Zusammenhänge, dass räumlich lange Wege und Studiengebühren negativ sowie ein hohes Angebot an Hochschulen und Studienplätzen positiv auf die Zuwanderung wirken, decken sich mit anderen wissenschaftlichen Ergebnissen und scheinen insofern plausibel.
