Abstract

in this paper, we have investigated the behaviour of gasoline prices in France over the period 1980-1990. We have established that the price liberalisation measures introduced in 1985 were successfull in integrating the domestlc market to the European one, but the process of integration is still in progress. The behaviour of the Tax Authorities did not inhibit price flexibility with final gasoline prices responding symmetrically to international gasoline price changes.
