Abstract

Cet article a pour objet de montrer la manière dont le modèle 4C développé par Miller et Le Breton Miller (2010) complète l'approche de la stratégie par le business model. L'approche par le business model permet d'appréhender la stratégie à un niveau intermédiaire entre les grandes décisions stratégiques et la mise en œuvre fonctionnelle (Lecocq et al., 2006). Bien qu'elle permette de mieux comprendre les processus de création et de captation de valeur au sein d'une entreprise à un moment donné, elle ne permet pas d'appréhender les mécanismes sous-jacents à l'évolution du business model dans le temps. Nous explorons dans cette recherche la manière dont le modèle 4C développé par Miller et Le Breton Miller (2010), fondé sur les clés du succès des entreprises familiales sur le long terme, permet de compléter l'approche par le business model. Nous présentons ici une étude empirique portant sur quatre entreprises du secteur de l'internet visant à analyser la complémentarité des deux grilles d'analyse. Nous montrons que le modèle 4C permet non seulement d'appréhender plus finement les logiques d'évolution du BM au cours du temps mais aussi d'intégrer la dimension humaine présente dans les différentes composantes du BM. Nous contribuons ainsi au champ de la recherche sur les business model en proposant un enrichissement des modèles existants par une meilleure appréhension de l'évolution de la stratégie et de la dimension humaine au sein du concept.
