Abstract

La concentration dans la grande distribution va-t-elle se poursuivre à l'échelle européenne ? La standardisation dans la restauration se fait-elle aux dépens de la variété culinaire ? Comment La Poste peut-elle tirer profit de son réseau d'agences ? Longtemps considérés comme un cas particulier dans une économie à dominante industrielle, les services occupent une place croissante dans notre société. L'actualité financière et stratégique est marquée par l'essor de groupes d'envergure internationale. L'analyse de leur développement permet de montrer le caractère relatif et conventionnel de l'opposition entre biens et services. En outre, le centre de gravité de ces entreprises semble se déplacer de la production en tant que telle vers des relations de coordination « centre/périphérie ». Pour présenter cette thèse, trois niveaux de lecture sont proposés dans l'ouvrage. Le premier, descriptif, présente des situations d'entreprises de services. Le deuxième, analytique, soulève des problématiques de management en relation avec des travaux de gestion en stratégie, théories des organisations ou marketing. Le troisième enfin, plus conceptuel, avance des hypothèses relatives à la définition de nouvelles configurations organisationnelles. Universitaire ou professionnel, le lecteur trouvera ici des réflexions théoriques et pratiques abondamment illustrées et étayées par des cas de synthèse.
