Abstract

Cet article apporte un éclairage nouveau sur les raisons d'une croissance moins rapide des ventes de l'industrie agroalimentaire française par rapport à ses principaux concurrents étrangers, à la fois sur le marché domestique et à l'international. A partir de travaux récents en économie internationale, les auteurs rappellent que le coût du travail n'est qu'un facteur explicatif parmi d'autres de la dégradation de la compétitivité de la France. L'absence de gain de productivité, le manque de compétitivité hors-prix ou encore des coûts d'accès aux marchés étrangers relativement élevés participent fortement à ce constat.
