Paysage et économie : la mise en évidence d'une solution de marché

Abstract

Le paysage est une notion très polysémique tiraillée entre ses dimensions visuelles et esthétiques et sa dimension «objective» . Cette situation explique le caractère très pluridisciplinaire (J. Coarec, 1984) des recherches qui lui sont consacrées et la multiplicité des définitions. Chaque science comprend en effet le paysage à partir de son langage propre. Cette polysémie peut décourager la recherche (Y. Lacoste, 1977) ou tout simplement exprimer la richesse des analyses. L'ambiguïté définitionnelle se trouve déjà dans l'histoire du mot (Turner, 1983). Dérivé de pays, il désigne depuis le XVIIIe siècle un type de peinture et renvoie à un aspect purement esthétique. Le paysage est à la fois un spectacle et un espace. Il est compris dans le langage commun comme une «étendue de pays qui présente une vue d'un ensemble» . Au-delà du subjectif et de l'objectif, le paysage est donc écartelé entre l'espace et la perception.
