L’inéluctable évolution des modèles productifs chez les constructeurs automobiles chinois et indiens

Abstract

Dans les économies émergentes, le changement social et la croissance rapide ont donné naissance à de nouveaux marchés automobiles et à une demande de voitures relativement peu chères et assez modernes. Les constructeurs locaux qui montent et les entreprises établies originaires des pays de la Triade sont en compétition pour la domination de ces vastes segments de marché. Notre article se penche sur les modèles productifs développés dans ce contexte par deux constructeurs automobiles indigènes, un chinois (Geely) et un indien (Mahindra & Mahindra). Il examine les principaux éléments, les buts généraux et la viabilité à long terme de leurs stratégies à bas coûts. L’analyse révèle diverses tensions au sein de ces modèles, en particulier autour des politiques de main-d’œuvre. Les deux modèles cherchent à combiner bas salaires et chaîne d’approvisionnement à bas coûts, avec des architectures de produit simplifiées. Mais leur stabilité est toute relative. Les relations de travail dans les deux entreprises sont marquées par une tension entre politique de bas salaires et besoin d’investir dans la formation qualifiante. Les deux constructeurs cherchent en même temps à améliorer leurs capacités productives et à surmonter les limitations induites par leurs politiques de main-d’œuvre habituelles.
