Operationalisierung latenter Variablen in Strukturgleichungsmodellen: Eine Standortbestimmung

Abstract

Zusammenfassung Latente Variablen in Strukturgleichungsmodellen können mit Hilfe formativer oder reflektiver Messmodelle operationalisiert werden. Eine Durchsicht betriebswirtschaftlicher Zeitschriften zeigt, dass empirische Studien oftmals formative Messmodelle verwenden, diese aber anhand der etablierten Verfahren zur Beurteilung reflektiver Skalen bereinigen. Dieses Vorgehen führt dazu, dass viele publizierte Skalen sowohl durch unzweckmäßige Redundanzen als auch durch schädliche Indikatoreliminierungen geprägt sind. In beiden Fällen wird das dokumentierte Messmodell dem konzeptionellen Inhalt des Konstrukts nicht gerecht. In der Folge ist auch die Gültigkeit der betroffenen Strukturbeziehungen kritisch zu hinterfragen und evtl. durch Replikationsstudien zu überprüfen. Für die Zukunft fordert der Beitrag die empirischen Forscher dazu auf, vor der Übernahme einer publizierten Skala deren Entstehung und Eignung aus messtheoretischer Sicht kritisch zu hinterfragen.
