The Impact of Business Education on Students’ Moral Competency

Abstract

Grooming business students for ethical professional roles has been a growing concern for both the corporate world and the business schools. Widely publicized corporate scandals have pushed public trust in business to an all-time low and have raised the question about the role and effectiveness of university education in developing moral competencies among students—future business leaders. The study pursues twin objectives—( a ) checking the reliability and validity of MCI developed in the Polish context; and ( b ) comparison of moral competencies of students with and without inputs on ethical education on MCI scores. The article presents results of an exploratory study on the role of business education on moral competencies (MCI scores) of students in Poland. The results bear important implications for increasing understanding of business education and students’ moral competencies.
