Antecedents of Organizational Identification of Postgraduate Students and Its Impact on Institutions

Abstract

Through this article, we have tried to identify the factors that lead to organizational identification of postgraduate students with the institutes in which they are studying. The idea was to find out what contributes to strong identification with the institute and how this identification with the organization leads to mutual benefit. For the current study, a sample of 275 postgraduate students studying in various management colleges in the National Capital Region (NCR) was administered a questionnaire. The analysis of the data indicates that identification with the institute is heavily influenced by clarity regarding recruiters expectations; this was followed by information sharing, participation in decision making and lastly by performance feedback. The findings of this study are useful for academic administrators in policy making and institution building. They can get a better insight into the minds of students and assess what factors are perceived as most important for them, while identifying with the institute in which they are studying.
