Abstract

[eng] A comparative study of the dynamic properties. of ten American and five French econometric models. This article is an attempt to isolate thé general properties of the models under study concerning the structure of forecasting errors and the effects of a rise in public expenditures under various assumptions. The following conclusions can be drawn : the structure of errors is roughly the same in all the models, where investment and unemployment are the most poorly forecasted variables. The effects on growth and prices of a rise in public expenditures are most alike in most models, whereas very strong differences appear when one studies the consequences of changes in the way the expenditures are financed or in the monetary policy which is followed.
