Action collective et différences compensatrices : le cas des travailleurs masculins à horaires atypiques

Abstract

[fre] Les emplois à horaires atypiques sont-ils compensés par des salaires plus élevés ? Nous utilisons des données appariées employeurs-salariés et montrons qu ’ il est nécessaire de contrôler pour les effets d ’ auto-sélection et de considérer séparément la formation des salaires selon le régime horaire de travail . Les résultats suggèrent qu ’ il existe un différentiel de salaire significatif dont nous évaluons la sensibilité à divers indicateurs de l ’ action collective . Celle-ci , indépendamment de la manière dont elle est mesurée , influence positivement la différence de salaire estimée . Par ailleurs , cette dernière compense effectivement les salariés ayant des horaires atypiques : alors que leurs préférences seraient insuffisantes à les convaincre d ’ accepter de tels emplois , le supplément salarial influence significativement leur choix . We use matched employer-employee data to show that adjustment is required for self-selection effects and wage formation has to be considered separately for shift work and day work . The findings suggest that there is a substantial wage differential . We evaluate the sensitivity of this differential to various collective bargaining indicators . Collective bargaining , regardless of how it is measured , has a positive influence on the estimated wage differential . This differential effectively compensates employees doing shift work . Their preferences alone would not be enough to convince them to accept shift work . The extra pay significantly influences their choice .
