Oferta de trabajo del hogar remunerado en el Perú: 2007-2014

Abstract

El objetivo de este artículo es analizar el trabajo del hogar remunerado bajo las modalidades “cama adentro” y “cama afuera”, así como estimar la probabilidad de trabajar en esta ocupación y la función de oferta de trabajo. Estos dos puntos son la principal contribución de la investigación al tema para el caso del Perú, en cuyo desarrollo se emplearon las bases de las ENAHO 2007, 2010, 2013 y 2014. Por medio de una estimación Logit Multinomial se encontró que la probabilidad de estar en el trabajo del hogar remunerado en relación con la inactividad es mayor para las mujeres de bajos niveles de educación y de ingresos no laborales, y mayor para aquellas cuya etnicidad es nativa. Asimismo, que la función de oferta de trabajo del hogar remunerado tiene una pendiente positiva y es altamente inelástica. En el caso de las trabajadoras “cama adentro”, esto es consistente con su poco control de la jornada laboral, mientras que el de las trabajadoras “cama afuera” es consistente con sus bajos ingresos. The objective of this article is to analyze live-in and live-out paid-housework, and to estimate the probability of being able to work in this occupation as well as the supply function, which are this article’s main contributions for the case of Perú. Using data from the ENAHO Survey 2007, 2010, 2013, and 2014, and estimating a Multinomial Logit equation, we find that the probability of being in paid-housework relative to being inactive is higher for women with low education who have a low non-labor income, and also for indigenous Peruvians. We also find that the labor supply function for this market has a positive slope and is highly inelastic. In the case of the “live-in” workers, this is consistent with being unable to control the duration of the time they are employed. In the case of the “live-out” workers, this is consistent with having a low income.
