Rechtspopulismus und Standortattraktivität

Abstract

Beeinflusst zunehmender Rechtspopulismus die Attraktivität von Wirtschaftsstandorten? Um dieser Frage nachzugeben, wird zum einen ein Überblick über die dazu bestehende Fachliteratur gegeben. Zum anderen werden Ergebnisse eines laufenden Forschungsprojektes vorgestellt, in dem untersucht wird, wie sich rechtspopulistische Demonstrationen auf das Wanderungsverhalten von In- und Ausländern auswirken. Die bisherigen wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnisse lassen sich wie folgt zusammenfassen: • Städte und Regionen, in denen rechtspopulistische Parteien und Bewegungen breite Unterstützung erfahren, haben einen nicht zu unterschätzenden Nachteil bei der Anwerbung von in- und ausländischen Fachkräften. • Zu den Hauptgründen, warum Menschen Städte und Regionen meiden, in denen rechtspopulistische Parteien und Bewegungen großen Zuspruch haben, gehören Sicherheitsbedenken und der Wunsch, in einem Umfeld zu leben, in dem sie von Menschen mit ähnlichen Ansichten und Interessen umgeben sind. • Zur Frage, inwieweit Unternehmen ihre Standort- und Investitionsentscheidungen aufgrund des zunehmenden Rechtspopulismus verändern, liegen zu wenige empirische Erkenntnisse vor, um diese Frage verlässlich beantworten zu können.
