L'utilisation des études de cas pour analyser les coopérations inter-entreprises : des justifications méthodologiques au pragmatisme empirique

Abstract

Our paper aims to answer two questions: Why and how to use case studies in strategic alliances analysis? In response to the first question, we have shown that the complexity and dynamism of the phenomenon being studied, the multiplicity of perspectives and multidimensional nature of certain variables, justify such an action. Regarding the second question, we have shown, through numerous illustrations, the main stages of a case study. Ultimately, we argue that case studies should be a prerequisite step in any research in management science. Such methodological design allows to identify key variables and characterize the causal relationships before any confirmatory analysis. It is also strongly recommended to use triple triangulation of data sources, different perspectives and multiple respondents and a combination of methodological tools. ...French Abstract : Notre article a pour objectif de répondre à deux questions : Pourquoi et comment utiliser les études de cas dans l'analyse des alliances stratégiques ? En réponse à la première question, nous avons montré que la complexité et le dynamisme du phénomène étudié, la multiplicité des perspectives et la nature multidimensionnelle de certaines variables, justifiaient un tel recours. Concernant la seconde question, nous avons montré, à travers de nombreuses illustrations, les principales étapes d'une étude de cas. En définitive, nous soutenons que les études de cas doivent constituer une étape préalable indispensable à toute recherche en science de gestion. Cela permet entre autres, d'identifier les variables clé et de caractériser les relations de causalité avant toute analyse confirmatoire. Il est aussi fortement recommandé d'utiliser une triple triangulation : des données aux sources différentes, des perspectives et des répondants multiples et une combinaison d'outils méthodologiques.
