Mondrag n: come far convivere successo economico e valori cooperativi

Abstract

Mondrag n Corporaci n Cooperativa (MCC) il maggiore gruppo industriale cooperativo del mondo per fatturato. Sorto negli anni Cinquanta, ha intrapreso un singolare percorso di sviluppo basato in un primo momento sulla crescita interna e dimensionale, che ha portato importanti innovazioni nella governance. Queste hanno consentito negli anni Novanta la formazione di un gruppo fortemente internazionalizzato. Le societ create all estero non sono cooperative: ci ha innescato un intenso dibattito sulla questione se il gruppo avesse perso la propria identit originaria. In questo paper si mostra come invece il gruppo sia riuscito a conciliare gli obiettivi cooperativi, la relazione con la comunit locale e i necessari requisiti di efficienza e competitivit adottando una peculiare struttura organizzativa, in cui le cooperative sono raggruppate in divisioni settoriali e coordinate da organi centrali composti dagli stessi soci. La complessa architettura istituzionale del gruppo ha consentito di razionalizzare la presenza delle cooperative sul mercato, stimolandone efficienza e competitivit , senza rinunciare alle loro prerogative cooperative e realizzando su larga scala anche gli obiettivi sociali tipici di questa forma d impresa. Nei primi anni Duemila inoltre stata avviata una seconda fase di sviluppo internazionale, caratterizzata dai tentativi volti a recuperare l identit cooperativa anche nelle succursali estere.
