La vie apres l'aide sociale : le bien-etre economique des personnes qui ont cesse de toucher de l'aide sociale au Canada dans les annees 90

Abstract

Les annees 1990 ont ete caracterisees par des baisses importantes du nombre de beneficiaires de l'aide sociale dans la plupart des provinces canadiennes. Ces baisses ont eu lieu au cours d'une periode ou la plupart des gouvernements provinciaux ont reduit les prestations et resserre les criteres d'admissibilite. Qu'est-il advenu du bien-etre economique des ex-beneficiaires de l'aide sociale des annees 1990? A l'aide de donnees fiscales longitudinales, cette etude porte sur la situation economique a court et a long termes des ex-beneficiaires de l'aide sociale sur trois plans : les gains, le revenu disponible et le faible revenu. On se penche egalement sur le role du mariage en ce qui a trait a la situation economique des ex-beneficiaires.
