Organizing in the informal economy : a case study of the clothing industry in South Africa

Abstract

Provides an overview of the clothing industry in South Africa and examines the activities of the South African Clothing and Textile Workers Union (SACTWU) and the Self Employed Women's Union (SEWU), highlighting their achievements and failures in representing and empowering workers in the informal economy.
