Abstract

"The so-called Minijobs, i.e. marginal employment with an upper earnings threshold of 400 Euro per month (450 Euro from 2013 on) but without a restriction in working hours, are an important part of the German labor market. Our analysis shows that Minijobs are extensively used in small establishments and in the service sector. We also find evidence that smaller firms tend to substitute regular employment by Minijobs. In larger firms a growing number of Minijobs is usually associated with more regular employees." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
