Abstract

Dans un contexte de croissance urbaine qui contribue à accroître les besoins de mobilité, les motos sont de plus en plus présentes dans les villes d'Afrique subsaharienne. Les deux-roues motorisés se révèlent comme un mode de transport plus adapté au mauvais état de la voirie et à la forte congestion mais aussi comme une réponse aux difficultés structurelles rencontrées par les transports collectifs pour assurer la mobilité quotidienne des citadins. Nous présentons les raisons de cette diffusion, leurs conséquences, et les enjeux associés à l'usage privé mais surtout public de l'essor des motos-taxis dans les villes d'Afrique subsaharienne.
