Abstract

Cet article vise à identifier les conséquences de la filière suivie au lycée sur l'insertion professionnelle des bacheliers en début de carrière. En combinant le panel d'élèves du second degré 1995 avec l'enquête sur l'entrée dans la vie adulte, nous sommes en mesure d'identifier les effets du regroupement des élèves en filière dans le secondaire sur le début de la carrière professionnelle. Cette riche base de données nous permet de prendre en compte le fait que les filières regroupent des élèves différents. Une analyse de médiation permet d'estimer l'ampleur des divergences de trajectoires selon la filière, que les bacheliers aient poursuivi ou non leurs études. Les résultats soulignent l'importance de prendre en compte les caractéristiques des élèves avant l'orientation dans la comparaison des emplois occupés après leurs études par les bacheliers. L'analyse de médiation permet également d'identifier une dynamique complexe entre compétences scolaires et niveaux de diplômes qui tend à masquer en partie les inégalités professionnelles entre femmes et hommes en début de carrière, tandis que la filière du baccalauréat obtenu tend à les expliquer.
