Abstract

The State intervenes in economic life by ensuring its sovereign right to police, justice, national defence, education and links with international institutions. In particular, it must undertake a policy of income redistribution in order to have sufficient resources to perform its functions, a social policy to reject excessive inequalities and reduce exclusion, conduct an employment policy (being itself an employer), undertake actions in the regions for a balanced national economic development and conduct an environmental policy.
