Abstract

The BRICS (Brazil, Russia, China, India, South Africa) are large countries in area and population. They represent a new force that aims to counter the leadership of Western countries in the conduct of world affairs. They are the spearhead of emerging countries. However, their understanding is not idyllic, it is, at best, circumstantial, because their economic forces and their economic and political interests are divergent. The Delhi Summit opened up new lines of joint action; concerning world economic negotiations, the fight against terrorism, the development of agreements between the scientific communities or the growth of public infrastructure. The question is to know if, beyond the only economic considerations, the coherence of their common actions will lead them to impose new rules of the game in the international concert.
