Concurrence et coopération dans la relation industrie-commerce

Abstract

This paper is an attempt to confront two alternative interpretations of the relations between industry and distribution : the first one deals with incentive schemes and transaction costs, the second one focuses on the coordination of productive activities. This confrontation is implemented on the basis of two empirical examples : the coming of the modern industrial (integrated) corporation in the United States at the end of the 19th century, the case of large distributors in France nowadays
