Abstract

Comment les chaînes de télévision françaises s'acquittent-elles de leurs obligations d'investissement dans le cinéma français ? Trois résultats principaux ressortent de l'analyse économétrique. En premier lieu, on observe une complémentarité entre le financement du cinéma par les chaînes de télévision et le soutien public, au sens où l'avance sur recettes (CNC) privilégie clairement les films à petit budget et de qualité. En second lieu, il apparaît que le clivage entre chaînes privées et publiques n'est pas pertinent, en particulier pour France 2, dont la stratégie est assez proche de celle de TF1 (films de qualité variable à gros budget). L'étude souligne enfin le cas particulier d'Arte qui, bien que non soumise à la réglementation de par son statut de chaîne franco-allemande, apparaît comme privilégiant les films de qualité, plutôt à faible budget.
