Valoración Económica De La Prevención Pública De La Malaria En Los Hogares Del Caquetá

Abstract

La Malaria es la Enfermedad Transmitida por Vectores (ETV) de mayor importancia en salud pública en Colombia. Este estudio realiza un análisis económico de los hogares del departamento del Caquetá, sobre la relevancia que éstos otorgan a dicha enfermedad y el valor monetario que conceden a su prevención. Con el fin de evitar el sesgo por omisión de variables que puede producirse en el Excedente del Consumidor, se propone y se estima el modelo de Comportamiento Contingente. La función de demanda de vacunas hipotéticas contra la malaria estimada determinó que la máxima Disponibilidad a Pagar por prevenirla, en un hogar promedio, asciende a $61.150.oo por ano. Se consideraron también los factores socioeconómicos que contribuyen a determinar la importancia que el jefe del hogar concede a la prevención de la malaria. Los resultados ofrecen pautas específicas que podrían ser usadas como base para estudios similares en otras regiones del país.
