Factores Asociados Al Logro Educativo A Nivel Municipal

Abstract

Este artículo trata de distinguir cuáles son las variables que inciden en la calidad de la educación a nivel municipal, medida como los resultados de las pruebas de ingreso a la educación superior. Se estima un modelo en el cual la variable dependiente es el promedio por categoría en el examen de estado, con un panel de 897 municipios durante el período 1996-1999. Se hallaron como variables significativas el gasto por nino (positivo), así como la pobreza y la desigualdad de cada municipio (negativas). Las variables de entorno como la altura y la distancia del municipio con respecto a su capital ayudan a explicar los resultados en las pruebas. La presencia de planteles privados se reveló como un factor ambiguo. No se halló evidencia contundente de la incidencia del conflicto armado ni del tamano de la clase.
