Abstract

// The NBK continues the series of studies devoted to the analysis of the country's foreign economic activity. The purpose of this study is an empirical assessment of the extent to which public spending finances imports. The study describes the structural problems of Kazakhstan's balance of payments, provides an overview of the expenditure side of the republican budget, and conducts an empirical assessment of the relationship between imports of goods and government spending to test the "twin deficits hypothesis".
